I’m an award-winning wedding photographer, gin-drinker & sunset-chaser.
As a photographer, I’m known for my golden hour photographs. I have even been dubbed ‘The Queen of Sunsets‘ by a few of my brides! I’m absolutely giddy for pretty light!
Unfortunately, living in the UK means the majority of the wedding days I get to shoot are cloudy. I don’t mind cloud cover usually, it’s like a lovely big softbox in the sky and flattering light for the majority of the wedding day.
But it can look really flat and boring for couple portraits!
When it’s cloudy I would always wish it was sunny so we’d have a beautiful golden hour.
I kept wishing this so much, that I decided to do something about it.
I taught myself how to have the sunshine in my pocket so I could pull it out at any opportunity!
I taught myself how to fake the sunset with flash!
and honestly, if you follow a few certain rules and techniques, you wouldn’t know the difference!
“When we found out we could still have our golden hour photos, even though the sky had clouded over, we were amazed! We were so excited to be able to carry on as planned! When we got our photos back we had a mix of real sun and fake sun and you simply cannot tell looking at them!”

"I hate off-camera flash, it's too hard."
I completely agree that using flash in your photographs can be confusing – especially at the start!
I totally get it. Flash was super confusing for me at first too.
But can tell you one thing, I am absolutely not a flash expert so the techniques I teach you in this workshop are really simple and easy to follow.
The technique to fake your own sunset and create your own golden hour with flash is honestly one of the easiest flash set-ups ever! It’s so super simple and I’ll walk you through every single step in an easy-to-follow video tutorial.
And if you still don’t fully understand, you can always DM me on Instagram to ask me anything you need clarifying and I’ll voice note you back!
I’ve got you.
I’m no flash expert and you don’t have to be either to recreate golden hour with flash!
"Flash photography isn't my style, I'm a natural light photographer."
Totally get that flash photography doesn’t mix with everyone’s photography style. But is sunshine your style? Because you won’t be able to tell the difference between a real sunset and a fake sunset if you follow the techniques in this workshop!
If you actively cancel your shoots on sunny days in favour of cloudy days then maybe this workshop isn’t for you.
"I can just do it in post-production"
If you do it in real life rather than post-production it looks far more natural because you’ll have the light in the right direction. The light from your flash would be wrapping around your subject just like the real sunshine would. Not to mention the highlights will be where they would be if it was real sunshine.
Also, it’s so much quicker than photoshop!
"I'm not a wedding photographer so I don't need it."
You can use this technique on ANY photoshoot that you do outside! It could be a wedding, engagement, family, children, headshots, personal branding or even product photography! If you shoot it on location, this technique will work for you. This page is full of lots of wedding and engagement photos because that’s my genre of photography but it can work for most other outdoor genres too!
"I don't want to waste time messing about with flash on a shoot."
It takes much less time than you think to set this up on location and the results are worth the 5 min set-up time, I promise!
I teach you everything I know, including what to do if you think it’s not working for you. We troubleshoot every possible issue so you’re confident you can create perfect sunshine every time with no ‘messing about’!
"I don't have an assistant so I find it tricky to capture natural moments whilst using flash."
You won’t need an assistant for this technique, you can do it completely by yourself. Set your lighting up first, then you won’t touch it for the rest of the session in that location. Once it’s set up it’s done and you can focus 100% on your subjects and allowing them space to create those natural moments.
“If you have UK wedding (even in the middle of the summer), you can never quite trust the weather will be on your side. We love the warmth and that amazing glow you can get in golden hour photographs and we wanted that in our wedding photos. The weather on our wedding day was pretty shocking. I was a bit worried about it, especially for the photos. So it was incredible that our photographer knew how to recreate the sunset for us!”

This workshop is perfect for any photographer who shoots on location or outdoors.
It’s especially good for couple sessions and wedding photography. But it also works well for family photography, fashion photography, personal branding photography.

Will this workshop ever be run in person?
At the moment I have no plans to run this as an in-person workshop.
I’ve chosen to run this as an online video workshop for so many reasons:
– You can watch this at your own pace from anywhere in the world.
– You can rewind the sections you want to watch again.
– You have access to it forever so you can watch it again and again and again.
– I can offer it at a cheaper price point than an in-person workshop.
– You don’t even have to get dressed to watch it!
Do I need to be an experienced photographer?
This course won’t teach you how to use your camera or the basics of shooting on manual mode.
However, it does teach you the settings you can use as a starting point for your photographs and how your camera and flash work together.
If you have any further questions about photography you can always ask them in my Facebook group: The Hive and myself or one of my lovely members will be able to help you out.
How long will this workshop be available for?
You’ll have lifetime access to this course via a membership platform! If I step away from teaching and stop using the membership platform I’ll email you to let you know and share a link where you can download the course videos yourself.
